NZ's iconic native conifer. Slow growing but well worth the wait for the tree to mature into its stately form. When juvenile the foliage tends to have copper bronze tones but as the tree ages green is the more dominant colour. Protect from frost when young. One to plant for your grand children! Evergreen

A useful, upright, slender conifer that can be used to create vertical accents in planting schemes or containers. Dark green thread-like foliage that forms a column and tapers to a point. Must have good drainage and likes deeply worked soil and a sunny spot. Initially slow growing. Evergreen.

A fascinating and fabulous, designer conifer that is used extensively as a feature landscaping or container plant. The branches are graceful, arching and held at unusual angles giving a most interesting architectural affect. Bright green needle like foliage. Easy to grow. Evergreen.

This Conifer is commonly known as the 'Hollywood' Juniper - definitely a star in any planting scheme.

Bred by in NZ by Mark Jury. A beautiful, easy to grow Michelia with dainty spring flowers which are delightfully fragrant and coloured an unusual lilac pink. The dark green foliage always looks good and is disease resistant. Happy in the sun or part shade.

I put 6 of these in my front garden a year ago and they have done remarkably well and seem quite robust. I intend to trim them up to make a standard shape but they do equally well left as a bush or used as a hedge.

Grandiflora. This tree is definitely in my top 10! Always looks good, tolerates just about any conditions. Glossy green leaves accented with a bronze under felt, large creamy white blooms that are softly fragrant. Wonderful as a single specimen or as an avenue planting.

Fern Pine. A graceful evergreen tree from Africa from the same family as our Totara. In its juvenile form it has green glossy fern like foliage arranged along slender willowy branches. Very slow growing so looks 'forever young' for many years. Sun or shade and deeply worked well drained soil for best results. Est.10 year growth.

The name Podocarpus refers to the stalked 'fruits' of this tree and gracilior means graceful.

aka Golden Totara

Native. A handsome specimen tree for sun or part shade. The stiff narrow leaves are a beautiful golden shade and complement the reddish brown bark. Slow growing, hardy and tolerant of all conditions except wet 'feet'. Height given is 10 year estimate. Evergreen.

Totara were a valuable timer source in early NZ. Maori also used large specimens to craft their war canoes. The peeling bark was used for roofing material and for fashioning food baskets.

Conifer. A slow growing, neat and tidy little conifer that grows naturally into an upright oval. The sprays of flat foliage are a soft yellow shade in spring-summer turning to a rich green in autumn-winter. Highly ornamental. Plant in sun or part shade in deep soil, protect from strong wind. This is a fabulous landscaping conifer that can be used to add an architectural accent or punctuation point in the garden. Also looks wonderful marching along in a row. Fresh green well behaved foliage. Natural upright slender habit. We just love it and recommend it highly. Evergreen.

As the name of this wonderful conifer is a little hard to say it may help to know that it actually relates to the colour of the foliage i.e. it means emerald green in Danish
